Screams erupted and objects crashed outside the bedroom. A man yelled off a spell, and red lights shook through the hallway. Unaware, a young Candace Potter slipped out of her bed, and tip-toed through the room. Half-ways across the bedroom floor, she froze. She heard foot-steps running down the hall. Suddenly her bedroom door flung open and her room appeared in the room. Her mother grabbed Candace, holding her in her arms. “Harry, hurry!” Her mother screamed. Her dad rushed in behind her, her brother in hand. Within the next moment, the room was gone. They spun through darkness before landing. Candace hugged her moms neck tightly looking around the room. They were at her Grand-parents house. Her grand-father ran downstairs, wand in hand, and relieved at who it was. Her mother lead her and her brother upstairs to one of the now empty room. She was told that this used to be her mothers room. Her mother tucked them both into the bed, talking in her usual sweet voice. After many minutes passes, Candace feel asleep.
Candace sat up in her bed, sweating. She looked around the room. It was dark, the only light was from the alarm clock and the moon through the blinds. She left out a long breath, convincing himself that no one was around. She threw the blankets off herself and sat on the edge of her bed. She turned the lamp on next to her bed and surveyed the room again. Nothing had changed, it looked like it did when she went to bed. The same pictures and the came books. “God” She cursed under her breath. Rubbing her forehead, she sighed. No one was around, she was alone. It was easier to say, harder to believe. She looked up at her door, half expecting the handle to turn or the window behind her to open. Nothing happened.
The picture next to the bed caught her eye. She looked at it. It was of the family. Her mom, dad, brother, and her. They were ask happy then, smiling. She smiled back at the picture, at her lost family happiness. She wiped tears from her eyes. She laid the picture down on its face as she stood up. At the opposite side of the room she opened a drawer. Along with her anxiety medicine she opened a bottle of water, guzzling it. She opened her front door, looking into the hallway. No one seemed to be around , which didn’t surprise her. She sat herself in her doorway, opening up her journal. She dated it, and began to write.
