The leaves outside had already begun to change color. No longer did the grounds look lush and green. Now, they had a nice, warm appearance to them with the red, orange, and yellow leaves mixed with the fading grass and warm chestnut colored bark. The birds had already started their journey south to a nice, warm winter. Only the owls stuck around. The giant squid that lurked in the lake for years was still alive and thriving. The sun danced across the lake, shimmering and creating a nice glare when looked at from particular angles. This is what Sophia enjoyed the most. She loved autumn and everything having to do with it.
Sophia Belle Longbottom wasn’t your average sixteen year old girl. She didn’t get all dolled up and flirt with boys constantly. She wasn’t giggly and talkative. She wasn’t a social butterfly or even a mildly talkative person. Sophia just wasn’t that type of person. She didn’t like to be the center of attention and she was afraid to talk to people she didn’t know. Surely, that was okay. Sophie adored her older sister, Andy, with all her heart, and she admired her brother, Charlie just as much. Those two were some of her biggest heroes for the little things they did to make sure she was okay. They were great people. It was a shame she had hid her old beaus from Charlie. He would have told her earlier that they would be mean to her. He would have warned her and maybe stopped her from getting hurt. She never would tell him though. He would freak out if he knew everything that had happened to her. Andy would, too. She’d rather keep those mistakes to herself. She was a good girl who just got caught up with the bad boy who thought he could control her and lost it when he couldn’t.
Sophia stopped by the old oak tree next to the lake, sitting down. She adjusted her gray sweater, grinning. Now it felt like a good time to sketch something. Anything maybe. She pulled her notebook out from her bag and a pencil, opening to a fresh page. There was nothing outside that really caught her attention, but she did have an image of herself that she wanted to draw. Of course, it was just her with other people…being a normal teenager. That’s what she wanted most, but she was way to shy to ever let it happen.

Julian stretched when the bright light hit him. He wasn't normally outside too much unless he had something planned, but today was one of those rare occasions where he came out to face the wrath of the sun against his pale skin. He scanned around looking for any sign of Andy or Remmy, but they weren't out yet.
He stood in the same spot for a few minutes taking in the scenery and trying to think of something to do, he was debating whether or not he should go back inside, but he decided after long thought that he needed some fresh air and time outside of the castle.
He walked a little further down toward the lake, he knew there had to be someone around that he knew. He scanned the grounds again from his new standpoint. Sophie, he could see Andy's sister Sophie. Sophie was very different from her sister. She was quiet and reserved while Andy, well Andy was Andy there was really no other way to describe her.
He made his way to where Sophie was sitting, he was as quiet as he could be. He sat down Indian style and watched her as she sketched, he wasn't one who would disturb people until they were finished with the task they were in currently doing.
He watched as her hand moved along the piece of parchment, wondering what it was she was drawing. He wasn't going to be rude and look without her consent. He sat patiently and waited for her to finish.
((I hope this is alright, it's not the best.))

The grass ruffled beneath Julian’s approaching feet. Sophia figured he would pass with a simple hello and continue on his way. He was probably looking for Remmy or her dear sister, Andy. Well, Sophie couldn’t lie. Andy was lucky to be friends with Julian. That boy was the sweetest kid on earth and he had the most amazing dark olive green eyes. She could totally melt just looking at them. He was different from her usual guy, and she liked that. Sophie shifted a little bit, trying not to look up, when he sat down. She was never one to talk to people…especially someone who was Andy’s friend.
Sophie sighed, realizing he was waiting for her to stop and say something. She placed her sketchbook down on the ground next to her, looking over at him. Running her hand through her thick, blonde waves, she gave him one of her famous dazzling smiles. She might as well be somewhat friendly to the boy. He did make an effort to come see her and everything.
“Hey, Julian. If you’re looking for Andy, I haven’t seen her all day. I’m sorry that I can’t help you with that.”
She blinked, thinking that was why he stopped. It wasn’t that he wanted to talk to her. Of course he’d want to see where Andy was. Who would be better to ask than her own sister? Sophie mentally smacked herself for being so stupid. She picked up her sketchpad, flipping back a few pages, trying to look busy as if she were looking for something. When Julian didn’t leave, she looked up again.
“I don’t mean to sound rude, and please don’t take this the wrong way, but what exactly are you doing?” Sophie hoped he wouldn’t get up and run away. She didn’t mean to sound that rude.

He blinked a few times when she blurted out something about Andy that he only half understood. He opened his mouth to speak but couldn't think of the words to respond seeing as he had no idea what he would be responding to anyway. He ruffled the grass with his hand, that always amused him, she had picked up her sketchpad again, and he was prepared to wait patiently.
He caught the next thing she blurted out, it was slower and much more clear, he chuckled a little bit before responding, "Oh, well it didn't sound rude to me at all considering I missed half of what you said." he smiled one of his smiles that made his olive eyes light up. He put an elbow on his leg and let his head rest in he hand, "I actually was waiting for you to finish, I don't like to disturb people when they are working on something."
He moved his black bangs from his eyes, but they fell back just like always, his hair had never been obedient. "I hope that I didn't startle you," he said with a wicked grin, "I'd sure hate to do that."
If he had startled her it wouldn't be the first time. He seemed to have done that the first time he ever spoke to her in their teen years. When he turned 14 was about the time he had become friends with Andy and had actually talked to her, he did however, find out that she wasn't a naturally talkative person, but he was determine that she wasn't going to ignore him no matter if it meant aggravating her until she shouted at him, at least she was speaking.

Sophie let her gaze wander up to look at his when he spoke. Hold on. Did he just say he was waiting for her to finish? Why would he wait for her? Sophia was pretty sure he didn’t know she existed…except for her being related to Andy. She supposed he knew she existed, but the fact if he cared or not was what stumped her. She tilted her head to the side, slightly confused about the whole situation unfolding before her eyes. Hardly anybody, except for Charlie, would wait for her to finish something. No. They normally spoke to her or just plain ignored her. They were never patient with her. They never really cared.
She giggled when his black bangs fell back into his eyes. Man, those eyes. They could make anyone melt. She felt the color rising to her cheeks, so she turned away quickly, shoving her papers into her bag. Sophie was new at the whole holding a conversation with people. It didn’t come naturally to her. Sometimes her own voice even startled her. God, other people must think she was one weird little girl. At least she was cute.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m not doing anything really. I mean I can do this anytime,” Sophie nodded. “I mean…well yeah. I mean what I said. Anytime. It’s not like I’m ever too busy or anything.”
Sophie closed her eyes. That made her sound like a total loser. She shook her head, slightly mad at herself for being such a loser all the time. Why couldn’t she be normal? Sophie opened her eyes, shaking her head at the next thing he said. He always use to startle her. This time he was super careful with what he was doing.
“No, you really didn’t this time. I just…I thought you were passing by, that’s all,” Sophie flashed a small, slightly shy smile at him. “So…why are you here anyway? I mean, you’re talking to me…why? It’s just me.”

Sophie was an odd girl that was for sure, but what was fun about normal? He never figured that out, he had never followed trends or cared what others had thought about him, he, as muggle would say, danced to the beat of his own drummer. It was a waste of a life in his eyes to do everything the same as everyone else, you had nothing to make you unique, nothing that made you you.
A giggle from her was a first, for the longest time he thought that she didn't even have a voice. He gave her a smile when she blushed, usually he was the one blushing. Blushing was one of the things that had in common whether she knew this fact or not, it was true. If anything about girlfriends, kissing, or sex was mentioned he was always the first to turn red and ask to be excused. It was different if he brought it up, because then he knew it was coming, he was just a bit strange, but it never bothered him.
"You don't have to be nervous," he said smiling at her stuttering, how cute, he made her nervous, "I don't bite. I promise... well, I don't bit unless I have to anyway." he assured her, he rocked a little to the front and a little to the back that was a habit of his as well, but it wasn't as well known as his blushing.
"Why wouldn't I be talking to you? I don't talk to you enough as it is." he said smiling and tilting his head and sticking his tongue out at her, a playful gesture.

Sophie giggled again. Of course she knew he didn’t bite. The fact that he said it with such ease was comforting. She leaned back against the tree, not minding the blinding effect the sun had on her. In a way, it was nice. She didn’t have to actually see him when she looked at him since the sun was shining so bright. That made things much easier. Sophia pulled at the grass, a habit she had always done since she was little. She slowly began separating a single piece into multiple little pieces. Shaking her head, Sophie looked back at Julian.
She scrunched her nose in reaction to him sticking out his tongue. Sophie use to do that all the time to Andy. For the longest time Andy had called her bunny, but it eventually wore off. That was nice. Bunny was such an odd nickname for Sophia. It wasn’t very cute…unless someone other than Andy said it…like her dad. Then it was affectionate. Andy said it more mockingly than anything.
“Well yeah we don’t talk, Julian. Do you see me talking to anyone half the time?” Sophie smirked. That was honest and true. She sighed, shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t know really. I just…I don’t relate to people easily or something. Andy, once again, got lucky and took all those genes. Heck, even Charlie managed to snatch a few.”
She giggled, shaking her head. She loved her siblings more than anything, but she was way too different from them for her liking. She wanted so much to be like Andy. Beautiful and practically flawless. Everything about Andy was amazing. Then there was Sophie. Sure she was a cute girl. Some would even say pretty, but she wasn’t Andy. There was the problem. Sophie was…well, she was Sophie.
“I didn’t mean to be such a brat right there. I know I sound like I’m whining,” Sophie blinked. “I’m not. I love Andy and Charlie. No doubt. I seem to get mixed up with the wrong people sometimes.”
This was the most Sophie had ever talked to Julian, and she was pretty sure she liked it.
[oh no worries, darling. I like to write more than necessary sometimes. ]

Again with the giggling, Andy nor Remmy had ever really giggle, but he knew just like anyone else that Sophie wasn't like them. It was true that he and Remmy had had a relationship, but they both decided it was too weird to keep going on. It did in turn strengthen their relationships as friends, they were tighter then ever, and he was thankful their friendship was still in tact at all.
She sighed not even realizing it, hopefully he hadn't noticed it. He looked up at her just in time to catch her scrunching her nose at him, that was sort of cute, she looked sort of like a rabbit when she did that.
"I know that you don't talk to many people, but I'd like to change that between you and I, you need to be able to talk to someone if you need to. It has to be hard keeping so much stuff bottled up." he said and shrugged, he listened as she continued on.
It must be hard knowing that she was the only one who could turn to people due to her lack of communication skills.
"No, you didn't sound like a brat to me, it just sounded like you were getting some stuff off of you mind, stuff that you can't really tell anyone in fear of being judged and considered that, which you aren't. You're actually rather pleasant to be around, if I may say so myself." he ran his hand across the top of the grass letting it tickle his palm.
This seemed to be a record for her. Maybe it wasn't that she didn't have very good communication skills, maybe it was just that she was shy and wasn't good at starting the conversation.

Sophie shut her mouth, staring blankly at Julian. How did he get her better than her own siblings did? She shook her head, still wondering. He was something else, that was for sure. Sophia blinked a little bit, looking down at her arms that were resting in her lap. Her eyes widened when she saw her scarred right arm poking out from the sweater. That was new this year. She didn’t cut herself. That didn’t look like she did. It was just a bad happening with her ex-boyfriend. An accident, at the least. She hastily tugged her tight sleeve down onto her hand, wrapping her fingers on to it. Maybe Julian wouldn’t say a thing about it.
Her stormy gray eyes darted up to him. She nibbled on her lower lip, nodding. “You’re not all that bad yourself, I suppose. I mean…you’re easy to talk to and stuff.”
Way to sound like a loser, Sophie. She looked off to the lake, not wanting to look at his sweet face and nicely messed up hair. Running her right hand through her hair, she turned back to him, a single perfectly groomed eyebrow quirked up. She had a small smirk on her face and she couldn’t help but to giggle again. She loved to giggle. She couldn’t help it.
“So Julian, tell me this, you and Andy are just friends, right? I know mum thinks there’s more going on there, but we keep telling her there isn’t.” Sophie snickered. “Then again, she thinks I need to go find a boy to get me out of their hair…not that I ever stick around the house during the summer. Ever.”

"What?" he siad a littl shocked to hear that her parents thought that there was something going on between he and Andy, "Me and Andy..." he laughed a littl bit, "No!" red rose in his cheeks, see if he was perpared for something he was going to blush.
He blinked a few times trying to clear his mind of what had just been siad, that was an insane thought. He'd never thought of Andy as anything more than a friend and he was pretty sure that she hadn't either. It took him a moment to push that unlikely thought from his head and take in the other things she had said. He took a second to think of something to say.
"So basically," he said thinking of how any parent could say that, "they want to dump you on some guy so they don't have to deal with you? Or what?" he said, if that was the case, it wasn't right.
He tapped his fingers on the ground waiting to hear what she had to say about her parents actions. He knew that she might hold back seeing that they were her parents, but she really shouldn't if they were trying to dump her on some guy then it was wrong.
He noticed her tuggin on her sleeve, he gave her a look that was basically asking ' You didn't do that to yourself did you?'

Sophie giggled at his reaction. She knew better than anyone that there was nothing between him and Andy. Her sister had told her that on numerous accounts, begging her to make her parents top bugging her about it. Sophie noticed his blush, but she knew him well enough to know that he blushed at any unexpected thing. She shrugged a little bit, trying to look as innocent as possible. She didn’t want him to think she was rubbing it in or anything. That would be very mean of her to do.
“I don’t think they meant it like that,” Sophie started. “Who am I kidding? They love me and all, but that doesn’t mean they have to like me. Loving someone and liking them are very different in my family, I think. We’re all civil to each other, but my mum and dad obviously like Andy and Charlie better. I think it’s because they can carry conversations and they’re more social than I am. I’m almost positive my parents think I’m a total loser or something. I mean it’s not really my fault I have a problem with talking to people. I just…I never know what to say.”
She smiled warmly. Surely her parents had only been joking…or had only been half serious. Hopefully, anyway. Sophie ran her fingers along the top of the grass before looking back up at him. He was staring down at her arm and the look her gave her was anything but friendly. She swallowed hard, looking away quickly. What was she to say? He would tell Andy what happened. Andy would tell Charlie. Charlie would tell their mum. Luna would tell Neville. Neville would march his butt right over to take Sophie home. Not only would that happen and be awful, but Charlie and Andy would lose it. They wouldn’t appreciate it at all.
[sorry it's short]

"Sohpie," he said with a sympathetic yet stern voice, "tell me the truth, or I'm just going to have to assume that you brought that on yourself and I don't want to believe that about you." he frowned knowing he was going to have to come clean in order for her to know that he wouldn't tell a living soul if she didn't wish him to.
"I know that everyone feels alone sometimes and it hard, I know it is." he pause, I have the scars to proove it." he said and rolled up the sleeves of his jacket. It was true, when he was around the age of fifteen and sixteen there were so many things that troubled him and did start to cut himself, it became addictive and finally had to foce himself to stop or he was going to end up dead, he knew that everyone would be devistated if he did.
He looked at her with those eyes that could burn into anyone's flesh.

She looked away from Julian, determined not to speak to him again….ever. She kept her steely gray gaze set upon the lake. She would not look at him. Sophie knew if she did, she would end up breaking down and telling him. It was hard for her to keep her gaze set on the shimmering lake when he rolled up his sleeves. Eventually she broke down, and looked at his arms. Tears stung her eyes, but she knew better than to cry. Sophie didn’t cry. Ever. No matter how bad it hurt, she didn’t cry. She took a deep breath, looking back up into his cold yet burning gaze.
“Look, it’s nothing. Like I told my parents, I tripped and somehow got this. That’s if you want the sugar-coated story,” Sophie was anything but cheerful now. “My parents wouldn’t get it. My sister wouldn’t get it. Not even dear old Charlie boy would get it.”
Sophie bit her lip and looked down at her arm, pushing her sleeve back past her elbow, revealing a nice, pink scar running the length of her forearm. She sighed a bit, wondering how she would say it. She didn’t want to leave him there, thinking she did what he did. There was nothing wrong with doing that. Well, there was, but people shouldn’t be judged harshly upon it. They get their help and move on. No one should be cruel based on the past, right?
“Look, my sister thinks I’m the good girl. Never had a date.” Sophie sighed. “I’ve had my fair share of boyfriends…who later out turned out to be people who I hardly knew. Anyway, the last one, this summer, we had some fight over God knows what and I don’t know. This just came out of it. Think how hard it is to hide this from your family and friends. Then when they finally see it, come up with a damn story they’ll believe. Once they hear the truth, I’m sure they’d kill me. I’m suppose to be the quiet, sweet girl who doesn’t know anything past being a little innocent girl.”
Sophie shook her head, looking back to the lake, instantly regretting telling him.

"At least you're getting things off your chest now, it's not good to keep them bottled up like that." he smiled at her, at least he knew now that she hadn't cut herself as he had, and he regretted it now, sometimes he wished he could turn back the clock and make a different choice.
He smiled at her now, "Well it's over now..." he paused, "It is over between you two isn't it?" he asked hoping that it was because if someone made a mark like that on him it would be over for sure, no questions and no forgiving.
He again looked at his arm, that brouth back some painful memories, he winced and rolled his sleeve back down. "Your actually the first person I told about my cutting, that's why I always wear long jackets... so I don't ever have to explain." he hoped that atleast showed her that he did care, that he wasn't going to tell anyone. "And apparently you aren't the good girl everyone thinks, that's fine personally I would have to say I was dissappointed in the male species if someone hadn't tried to be with you." he said hoping that this didn't offend her in any way.
((Blah I have like brain block or something. But I've found the only way for me to overcome that is to keep on going.))

“I guess it’s good for me to get it off my chest,” Sophie sighed. She really hadn’t planned on telling anyone the real story, and even in the truthful one she just told Julian, she had left out some details. Those were things she wasn’t comfortable telling anyone…not even admitting them to herself half of the time.
She nodded at him, “It’s over…I wish it was over before it began. I don’t see what I saw in him.” She shook her head a little bit, picking at the grass. It was entertaining for the least bit and it brought her attention away from the conversation that her and Julian were having at the moment. She wasn’t sure why she even trusted Julian. He was Andy’s friend. Surely he’d tell Andy. Part of her thought he would, but the rest believed he wouldn’t. She smiled at him a little bit.
When he pulled his sleeves back down, she reached over gently and rested her finger tips on top of his sleeves, where the scars laid beneath. This made her a little nervous and she couldn’t help but to have her heart rate speed up a bit. “Julian, I’m sorry,” Sophie whispered. She didn’t know what she was doing, but she wasn’t exactly controlling herself at the moment. It seemed like some other person had taken her over.
She pulled away sharply when he spoke next. She quirked an eyebrow at him, tilting her head to the side. She giggled a little bit. “Funny, Julian. I find it hard to believe that anyone in the male population would want to be with me in any manner.”
Sophie brought her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around her legs. "Shouldn't a boy like you have a girl? Wait. You do, don't you? Who is she then?" Sophie grinned and winked at him. She could be quite the little sister when she wanted to be. She learned well from bugging Charlie about every girl he ever spoke to.
